Fury Lays Waste

At its best, the human race ideally tries to deal with the world with tolerance and reason.
We would like to be fair to all, resolving injustice with a civilised, sensible approach.
There is, however, a primal rage bubbling beneath the surface of this enlightened facade.
Many people lack the character to suppress the instinctive, vicious, and potentially violent side to our nature.
I think that I am quite good at not being ruled by my emotions in this way, but nevertheless,
that fury is always there, and I often feel the desire to tear down the injustice and stupidity I see around me.
This is what I was thinking about when I painted this picture; my primitive rage erupting from me
and destroying everything I despise, but leaving a wasteland in its wake.
Although I am pleased with the finished painting, I think it came out a bit too jolly and colourful for what is essentially a very dark subject.
